I originally started this for myself while training for my first marathon. I was throwing my Strava data into ChatGPT almost every day to get insights, and eventually thought, why not build a platform where the Strava data loads in automatically. That is how Vēlox started.
When I showed the private version to friends who run, a lot of them wanted to try it too, so I set about making it work for more than one person. That turned out to be a fair bit of work around data privacy and regulatory approval, but after a few months it is finally ready to share.
Where the name comes from
Vēlox is Latin for swift.
The word means swift, quick, fleet. It felt right for a coach whose whole job is to help you move faster over time, without rushing the work that gets you there. Short, old, and to the point.
The little dictionary lookup below is the same one that used to greet visitors on the home page. It lives here now, next to the story it belongs to.
